Did you know that Phelps offers direct access to more than 130 miles of scenic ATV and UTV trails right from town? From May through October, both town and county roads in the Phelps area are open to registered off-road vehicles, giving riders an incredible opportunity to explore the natural beauty of Vilas County. Whether you’re looking for a short local ride or a full-day off-road adventure, Phelps is your gateway to some of the best ATV and UTV trails in northern Wisconsin.
The interconnected trail system links the friendly Northwoods communities of Phelps, Eagle River, Conover, Land O’ Lakes, Lincoln, and Washington—each offering plenty of places to stop for food, fuel, or fun. Riders can also follow the routes into neighboring Forest and Oneida Counties, or cross into Michigan’s scenic Upper Peninsula where even more off-road excitement awaits. Some of the trails even connect all the way to the stunning Bond Falls area, a favorite stop for outdoor enthusiasts.

ATV/UTV Club!
It is with the dedication of the Landover ATV club that Phelps is accessible by off road vehicles. The club has worked hard to open up these routes, mark the trails and preferred routes, and keep them well maintained. In return, the Club asks all ORV riders to remember to follow all the rules so that this motorized sport remains available in our area.
And they aren’t done bringing the fun yet! The Club also has an off-highway motorcycle trail and course for dual sport cycling!
Also be sure to download the Vilas County Map It app on your smartphone to see all trail maps and track your location even with no service! You can also visit the Landover ATV Club website to mail order a map or stop at Phelps Convenience Center to buy a map while you gas up!
