Phelps is located in the snow belt, which means we generally have snow from early December well into March, often very fresh snow! And with the proximity to Lake Superior, you will see some lake affect snow that won’t reach south of Phelps.
Snowshoeing is great exercise and can be quite relaxing with very beautiful scenery, whether you’re following a snowshoe trail or breaking your own trail through the Nicolet National Forest. What will your snowshoe adventure entail?

Be careful to avoid snowmobile trails and cross-country ski trails when enjoying your day on snowshoes. The slower pace of this silent sport means you are more likely to catch a glimpse of an animal.
